The New Musings of a Quiet Geek

Ok, it's actually only two dogs but it will be for three nights. Yes, my pet sitting business seems to have taken off in this particular town anyway. This time it's for Jessie and Celeb. These dogs are young and spry, or at east younger, so no meds and thankfully I don't have to walk them but since Celeb is actually the grandmother's dog, there's only one run for both to share. If I'm lucky, they'll follow my commands and not run around the neighborhood but this worries me. Also, they don't have cable so my Friday night TV viewing could be seriously curtailed. I brought Book II of the Star Wars "Force Heretic" trilogy with me. The book is terrible but I may just get bored enough to finish reading it. I finally have something important to discuss. My mother's car was stolen right out of the driveway. Her glasses were in it so now she can't see well enough to read anything. To add to the intrigue, I was home when it happened and heard nothing. Her car doesn't have rear speakers or even a tape deck so no kid would want to take it for a joy ride. We don't know the exact time of the incident so it could be anywhre by now but hopefully it's still in the metropolitan area. The police accused me of taking it. (Of course, how are they to know I don't drive....) They also informed us of the fine if this was a scam. Those who know my family, do you think we'd do that? No, but I understand why the mentioned it. My mother is extremely shook up. I'm afraid she'll never be the same. At least not for awhile... My readers can probably imagine how happy I am that the Patriots won the Super Bowl. I still find it amusing that a local newscaster said that all that was needed now was the Celtics to win the championship. If that indeed does happen, as great as that would be, Lady Vader's comments about child sacrifice would definitely apply. The Celtics once again suck this season. It appears that The Flash might actually appear in an episode Justice League Unlimited this season. I'll keep you posted since I know you all care. I think my job interview went well the other day but I'll let you know how it really turned out when I hear the news.

It's official, Enterprise has been cancelled. WTF? As I've mentioned, this season they are finally doing the stories I wanted them, and expected them, to do all along. This only points the blame on two people Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. There was a time, if one considers Roddenberry the "God of Trek", Berman was Jesus. (Afterall, his birthday is December 25th.) We all realize now that this is not the case. He's credited with co-creating DS9 but I realize now he had less to do with it than I thought. Brannon Braga is alright if there's someone competant to cover his ass. First Contact was a totally awesome movie but was co-written with Ronald D. Moore. They should have been fired long ago. Oh, I have a job interview on Wednesday with the UConn Law Library....

So, I won't be going to West Palm Beach after all. I talked to them on the phone the other day and was told that had 40 applicants. Because I had applied before I actually received my degree, my name was removed from the list. Logically, this makes sense since, well, we all know what happened to me this past May in that regard. If you don't remember, please refer to the archives. I was a little upset by it but the job not last but low on the list of jobs I really actually wanted. Right now, Cambridge and Naples are at the top of the list and still in play. In other job news, the listings are a little stale. Oh well...
