Happy New Year

Ok, no it isn't the new year in the traditional sense but my new class started yesterday and Charmed starts tonight so in a sense it is. Ok. Fine. Whatever. I'm taking Collection Development which I'm sure means nothing to any of you but, then, who really cares anyway? To quote comedian Jay London, this post "will be over in a minute." The Stargate quality was reversed this week. The original written by castmember Chris Judge, and his episodes always seem to be good, not only had the return of Jolene Blalock as Ishta but had an interesting plot as well. Atlantis just sucked. Not only was the fact they were on a fake Earth totally obvious, they revealed this fact in the promo of the episode! And why is it always the suave male lead on the show that is the one to figure it out first? Can't they mix it up a little? We've had good stuff on Justice League the past two weeks. "Fearful Symmetry" introduced the character The Question. Other

Canada Dry and Other Stories

Here's some thoughts on my recent vacation: The Red Sox game we saw in Toronto totally rocked. (I know there's a whole other month to the season but last night was so cool.) My father and I went up most of the way of the CN Tower and that was fun. We were planning to go to this mall called the Distillery but who new there were two Mill Streets? We also went to Niagara Falls and visited the MGM store. It was mostly Bond and Pink Panther merchandise. Where's the Stargate stuff? Once again, Atlantis was really good, with guest star Colm Meany, but the original show just was lacking in so many ways including predictability. Two Justice League episodes to relate. "Hawk and Dove" was fairly interesting though you came realize the surprise ending a little too early. An appearance by Queen Audrey may have been interesting. "This Little Piggy" was not as action packed as I would have liked but Batman having to deal with former girlfriend Zatanna to cha

North of the Border

I will be heading to Toronto on Tuesday so I wanted to give you one last post for you secret blog readers that don't comment before I go. If you like Julie Andrews feel good movies, I would recommend you go see T he Princess Diaries 2 . I saw it a while back and thought it was alright for what it was. Stargate: SG- 1 brought to mind a conversation I had with Deuce about how it and Andromeda both are filmed in Vancouver so crossover with the actors wasn't surprising then I made a comment about Smallville. Well, this week Erika Durance who will be playing Lois Lane this season guest starred! It was kind of freaky for me but also expected considering the above reasoning. Teal'c getting an apartment isn't too interesting nor is Carter's love life but merge the two plots and they had something there. I was very pleased. Stargate Atlantis seems to be pulling out many "thinking man" episodes early out of the gate, no pun intended. What I mean is that they are n

Only a Few More Hours to Go

Smokey's family will be returning late tonight. I think he's ready too. I didn't think he'd ever go down for his nap which is probably more for my sake than his. Anyway, the past two days, he's been wearing me out. He has two walk routes a long one and a short one. He hasn't wanted to go the short way yet and I seriously doubt he will this afternoon. Eh. I had brought more things to scan but I haven't yet and really am not in the mood to do so now. Has the novelty worn off? I haven't told you all how I feel about the new Justice League Unlimited series that debuted a week ago last night. While the second episode was ok, the first was way better. That included three new characters while the newer one had just Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. At long last, we "see" the Invisible Jet and in this version, the people inside are also invisible so you won't have Wonder Woman in a sitting position seemingly floating around in th

New Digs

As you can see, I changed the template to my blog. I didn't see any way for anyone to comment but nobody has lately so I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem... Stargate was really good for what it was which was a Planet of the Week (POW) story. Just as Smallville going back to a FOW story, this doesn't really satisfy me anymore but, despite that I did enjoy it otherwise. Daniel using Go'auld as code amused me. My main problem with last week's Atlantis was the frequent use of the Wraith so early in the series. This apparently was done deliberately to set up this week's dilema. Two views on this week's episode. One suggests that suspecting a castmember is secretly an enemy spy doesn't work well this early in the series because the viewer doesn't know the charcter that well yet and it wouldn't come as a shock if the rumors were true. On the other hand, since the audience doesn't know the character well yet this may be the perfect

Stare of the Dog

You're Eric! Which That 70's Show Character are You? For some reason my beautifully written post yesterday wouldn't publish so I write again in hopes it works this time. Here's what I need to tell everyone: I'm back with Smokey the retired seeing eye dog this weekend. (Woo Hoo!) You know how he didn't usually walk for me on the first day? Well, he had three long walks yesterday. My knees haven't hurt this bad since those ridiculously long shifts at the Civic Center. We went out for an hour and a half this morning. I may be getting too old for this but at least it gets me away from the three Korean teenagers staying at my house... To update you on my appplication process for that job in New Haven, I recieved the final letter of reference today so they should have everything by Tuesday or Wednesday. Since I'm not at home I can't check when the application deadline is so I'm praying it's not too late. Before the new episodes t

Matt and Ben

I saw both Matt Damon and Ben Affleck yesterday.  My father and I went to see The Bourne Supremacy and I think we both really enjoyed it.  It was very good indeed.  I am curious why they changed the frame up to Russian Mafia as opposed to Chinese politician that was in the book, however.  Relations with the Chinese aren't all that different now than they were in the 80's when the book was written.  My father pointed out it's easier to take a train to Moscow from Berlin... Affleck was interviewed during the Red Sox game last night. (Good game by the way.)  Why the hell are they allowing him to speak at the Democratic Convention? And those rumors about him and Jennifer Garner in Canada  better be false... Speaking of the Sox game, ESPN, though they kiss Yankee ass whenever they can get away with it, they at least try to be impartial. Fox, on the other hand, seem to want to be sodomized by Yankee bats...If you watch a game where the Yankees aren't even playing they will b

Does My Enter Key Work?

I was going to mention this yesterday but the enter key on this keyboard wasn't cooperating and I really didn't want to have a huge paragraph about several unrelated topics. I finished Phoenix  and was quite pleased with it.  As I mentioned to my mother, this book has a lot of meat to it. Yes, it still has the silly magic mishaps and misadventures that amuse children but there's so much more to it.  I will say though that I was disappointed about the "major death."  Can a character who hasn't been in all five books be considered major? Yes, I know what that character means/meant to Harry but, to me, Hagrid or Dumbledore may have been a more interesting choice or even Snape...

Hello it's Me

Things have been interesting lately.   I came across a library job (in New Haven) this past Sunday and have been spending this past week getting 3 lettters of reference.   One is on it's way. The second person I asked I haven't heard at all and I still need to get one more.  The job is at a community college and I'd (somehow) have to work at their main campus and their sattelite campus in North Haven. Not sure how that'll work.   I've also applied for an office job in Hartford where I'd be doing bulk mailing 16 to 20 hours a week which is fine while I take my last course in the fall.

Woad of Things to Say

Topic 1: King Arthur had some really great battle sequences but that really was the whole movie. It needed more meaningful dialogue.  The romance between Guinevere and Arthur wasn't developed convincingly.  If  I relocated a woman's fingers, she still would not want to have sex with me.  I suppose having sex was a good enough reason to get married back then but please...   Topic 2:  I am thoroughly enjoying Phoenix.   Harry actually gets some and not from a woman oddly named Lovegood...Ron and Herminone act like a married couple but Herminone, like a typical woman, doesn't notice he's interested...   Topic 3 : Stargate SG-1  and Stargate Atlantis   were both very entertaining . With the original show I have one question, what about the Goa'uld that wanted to stay? Obviously he can't because he's played by one of the Andromeda cast (Although his character on that show was on a space station that blew up...) I can't wait for Fifth and the Carte

I'm Back! I'm Back! Oh! My Back!

The most exciting thing that happened over vacation was getting a chance to see Spider-man 2 with my cousin. While I thought the movie rocked, it was not better than the original. After the confrontation with Doc Ock and MJ's rescue, the movie started to drag. I checked my watch more with this film than with P of A and that was a good twenty minutes longer! A question: I kind of understand why Peter took his mask off in the runaway train scene but does anybody believe a whole trainfull of people would keep his secret? Over vacation I bought two CDs: Heart's new one "Jupiter's Darling which seems to blend the 70's and 80's personas of the band quite nicely and REO Speedwagon's "The Hits" which was on sale. (Did you know they were the ones who did "Riding the Storm Out"? I was surprised.) Now that I've finished Goblet and am reading Phoenix many things I had to say earlier don't fully wash but I was ignorant. Forgiv

Which Action Star Are You? Find out @ She's Crafty I am currently on vacation. OK, so my parents are and I'm just merging my vacation with theirs. What-the-fuck-ever. I saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban the other day. I have not read the first three books so I was very pleased with it. The 2 hours and twenty-something minutes went by very quickly. I was disappointed Lupin left at the end. He seemed like an important character. (God knows Maggie Smith is just a waste of space considering her talent and she returns year after year...) I loved seeing Dawn French as the Fat Lady and it's about time Robert Hardy appears in these things. (Minister of Magic) I did miss John Cleese although if you must cut something his scenes did seem to be rather useless in the first two films. I loved how Emma Watson acted more feminine with her purse and her comment "Is that what my hair looks like from the back?" I've started reading Goblet of Fire. It&

Everybody Does Not Love Raymond

First off, in case you really were wondering and since no one has tagged I'm assuming you didn't, I didn't actually scan anything but I guess there's another wedding later in the summer so maybe I'll scan another then. Yesterday was fairly eventful. We all went to my mother's church to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my parent's ordination. An old family friend came from Cleveland to preach. Both congregations attended and there was a lot of presents and picture taking. After they flew home, and Father's Day stuff happened, none of which really compared to the morning, we watched Welcome to Mooseport which could have been a lot worse but more about Maura Tierney's underwear, like her in it, would have improved things greatly. After my parents went to bed, I watched the movie Underworld . I was pleasantly surprised to find it actually had a more than reasonable plot and was quite entertaining. Having a R rating, I assumed we'd see

Day Three

I have really nothing new to report. My job here is finishing up very soon. They'll be back tomorrow afternoon. I scanned one of my stories, written junior year of high school, on to a disk yesterday. Considering how long ago that was, I think the story, about a sea monster attack on the coast of Maine, still reads pretty good. (The sequel is already posted at FictionPress.) I don't think there will be time to scan all the pieces I brought with me so I have to pick one. Though I realize no one will respond until it's too late to pick, here are the options: 1. Man goes to high school reunion reconnecting with lost love. (Yes, I know how similar that is to the story in progress over at FictionPress but this was written about six years ago.) 2. Naval captain has psych evaluation after apparently firing on a Chinese vessel. 3. New chapter to Guliver's Travels written senior year of high school. If you care, I wil tell you which I chose. What more c

Day Two

Smokey seems to be missing his family more than he did last year or at least is showing it more. Ah well. I couldn't get him to walk for me yesterday but he went for like 45 minutes this morning. Yay! I went out last night to special worship service at the Bushnell. It was supposedly ecumenical but it was like 90% African American churches. Can I get an Amen? Anyway, I didn't think of the emotional toll it would take on Smokey. He's used to a family of four (one of whom is agoraphobic) and now he just has me. I feel really bad for him. I know he'll be ok but still...

Day One

I have begun taking care of the dog. It's been almost three hours since they left and I think things are settling down. (He has finally at any rate.) It's a good thing too because I didn't know how much more of him just staring at me I could stand... Yes, it is confusing for most creatures if guests arrive and your family leaves instead but getting into a staring contest with a dog gets so boring quickly... This should be good overall. They have a scanner so I can put some of my old writings on disk. Woo hoo! A quiz: Take it: "Which Random Irish Gaelic Phrase Are You? Do You Still Know the Muffin Man?

I saw Shrek 2 with my mother last night. That was absolutely fabulous. (The creator of that particular Britcom, Jennifer Saunders played the villain of the piece, btw...) Critics have said it's better than the original. I don't know if I'd go that far but it was definitely just as good as the first. I don't know if you've seen it but our cat Susie did that Puss N Boots "cute face" three times last night... This weekend I will be once again house/pet sitting for that retired seeing eye dog as I did over July 4th weekend last year. It would be for as long and I, of course, did it before but I'm still a little nervous. Why? I don't know...

Been A Long Time.

French Guard Hello, long time no type. I've been unusually busy the last few days. This past weekend, I fed a family friend's cat while they were away. It was really easy but did not pay that much at all. On Monday, we went to the Lobsterfest at Mystic Seaport. That was pretty fun. My father parked the car near Mystic Pizza and asked me if I thought we'd see Julia...(If you knew my father you wouldn't be surprised...) We toured this whaling vessel and the ceilings below decks were so low I banged my head like three times. The last two days I've been doing a job for my mother cropping digital images and inserting them in documents. That did pay pretty well... Been watching a lot of movies lately. In addition to reseeing Back to the Future , Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , Grease and Duets , we also went to see Laws of Attraction in the theater. Not a bad movie although the script could have used some tweaking. It did have Julianne Moore

Argh!!!

I was going to wait and review the last three Enterprise episodes all at once but then this week's impressed me greatly so here I am. The Reptiles kidnapping Hoshi last week was very cool. I know I've said this on numerous occasions but I really like how they are giving her stuff to do this season. This week's special effects rocked and it isn't even the season finale. I loved seeing the ships being torn apart by the anomalies. Ah, the Insectoids realize the truth. Of course the Guardians tipped their hand before they did but still a good thing nonetheless. A bit of trivia before I move on: though the episode was very DS9, it was directed by Robert Duncan McNeill... The local ABC affiliate did it again for the second year in a row. They interrupted the season finale of Alias . Vaughn has Lauren strung up and was threatening to kill her then the weather guy comes on and says a tornado will hit Lady Vader's town any minute. I admit I was momentarily concerned.

More Cow Bell!

Smallville 's season finale was fabulous!!! I can't believe Chloe's dead. (Well, the Witness Protection house blew up a second after she entered...) The writers were showing some talent with that twist but especially with the Kara angle. They knew viewers like myself would immediately think "Supergirl" when she appeared and then they took that away from us by revealing the truth: She was just a pawn in Jor-El's game. I knew something was up when she was acting rather "incestuous" around Clark. Jonathan may also be dead. he didn't look one bit well at the end of the episode. (Neither did Lex but you know he won't die.) I echo Deuce's comment: Clark is a bonehead for letting Lana go but you know she'll be back for Chloe's and possibly Jonathan's funerals. The WB are a bunch of assholes. They cancel Angel because "the reruns didn't play well" and then have the gall to thank the show for five great years and say

I Hate Dial-Up!

Hmm where do I begin? I did go to the Sox game Tuesday. The only game of that series they actually won. Pedro certainly pitched better than he did yesterday. Smallville last week was so good, I really don't have much to say. Pete's gone and Lionel was arrested. I'm hearing death row... Because of Pete's leaving Clark was reluctant to tell Lana the truth but he will lose her if he doesn't... Anybody who really thought Angel had been corrupted by power isn't a regular watcher of the show but the episode totally rocked nonetheless. The season finale of Charmed was fairly intriguing but several comments must be made. Why did no one comment that Sigmund was gone? Why is evil synonymous with '80's punk? To get Leo angry enough, I suppose the death of adult Chris was necessary even though it means nothing when you think about it. The way the doors closed on Leo, complete with goofy smile, suggests he's gone from the show as well but he clearl

Up and Down Day

Finished my internship today. I found it sad in a way. For the most part, I really enjoyed it. True, I wasn't paid and had to get up ridiculously early but I really learned a lot. Guess who's not graduating on Sunday? Me. My cumulative GPA is 2.926 which is below the required 3.0. Somehow I feared this would happen. At the moment, it doesn't mean I never will graduate. The faculty has to meet to decide my fate. There is a possibility that I may have to just take a tenth course. I'll keep you posted on that. How'd this happen? Well, besides the fact that I'm just stupid, my mind was distracted by too many things this semester what with my car accident, the crap that followed it and falling in love I'm sure didn't help... Because of this, I'm not sure I want to go see the Sox tonight. If they were guaranteed a win it'd be an easy decision but...I'm leaning towards going.

Well Done

I am now done in every sense of the word. I gave my presentation today and passed in the Telecommunications assignment. Apparently, my mother asked me if she could take my spring jacket and I thought she was just referring to my winter jacket. The problem? My cell phone and T Pass were in the pocket. Now, I have to walk down to Kenmore tomorrow morning to get to work because they don't make change at the Fenway stop. Bought a ticket for tomorrow night's Red Sox game. My seats sound pretty good and Pedro is pitching. (Jury is till out if that's a good thing or not.) So I'll be down in Kenmore more than once. (Unless it rains like it's suppose to and the game is called, damn it.) Charmed was pretty good last night. Can I stab Phoebe? Why are they trying to make her the hero of the season? Why am I upset by this? (No, really. Why do I care?) Not a Piper-lite episode. (Yay!) Gideon has gone from simply misguided to pure evil. WTF? Is there more to this

Happy Mother's Day

Last night's Enterprise was very good. It was interesting that they finally made a decision in the Trip/T'Pol/Archer thing. Or did they? Now that they know T'Pol and Trip got married in a possible future, or past I guess it was, will Archer try to change this or will the other two themselves? Time travel brings out questions like this and if the other Enterprise just didn't make it or ceased to exist. They never will know. Here's a question that has nothing to do with time travel: why did T'Pol look so decrepidly old? She would have been only like 170 or so. Yes, Sarek look that old at 203 but he was dying of Bendi Syndrome and we're talking thirty more years in that case anyway. Are they implying that T'Pol's trellium addiction may have affected her that badly as to shorten her life by eighty years or so or did they just go overboard with the makeup?

Cold Turkey Has Got Me On The Run

This afternoon, I went to see Van Helsing. I liked it. One of the major problems it had was sacrificing story for fabulous special effects ala Episode II but, in my opinion, it wasn't quite on that level of badness in that respect. Yes, there were many cheesy lines but that is sadly what SciFi is now and maybe always was. The acting was really good except for the obvious exceptions of all four vampires: Dracula and his Brides. They were hideously over the top and could have easily been toned down. One review I read criticized that Anna was mortal yet could perform some fabulous moves. I think this power boost is understandable considering her ancestor made a pact with God to kill Dracula . Maybe God gave them a little extra help... There several people, but one couple sitting next to me in particular, who were very amused by the cheese. I thought the guy would hyperventilate several times. What is wrong with you if you feel compelled to shell out $7.50 for a movie you

Get Out The Fork.

I finished my database this afternoon. There are some flaws beyond my control but it's still infinitely better than anything I've done in the class all semester so that's something. Smallville was fairly good last night. It was almost like Clark had to face a fellow Kryptonian but doesn't encroach on any continuity issues. Nice. I was especially interested in that fact Jor-El used Jonathan's body to heal Clark. I can't wait to find out what's going on with the two of them. I love the Native American analogy to Clark and Lex's future relationship. An interesting touch. I do have a question though: when Holdsclaw set fire to the truck with heat vision, any idiot could tell he was going to do it and Clark had time to stop it. Now, I know doing so would enforce the professor's belief Clark is the deity Naman and it was just a truck but still... Angel was infinitely better than last week. Angel and Spike are hilarious together. The on

Another Quick Update

I'm in the computer lab. I just took a test in my Telecommunications class. I definitely did better on this test then the last one but then I didn't read an e-mail this morning from a woman just wanting to be friends. The question is though, did I do well enough to pass this class? Basing an entire grade on three tests is very lame indeed but it was somewhat refreshing not to have to write a paper. Charmed was rather lame and had Aaron Spelling written all over it. Paige conjures a guy because she's horny. Oh yes, she feels put upon, which she should given the current status of her sisters, but that's no excuse to misuse magic. When will the younger sisters especially ever learn? More Piper than last week but we need more! Leo and Chris seem top be making a little progress in healing their relationship. Breaking your son out of jail does that I'd imagine. Alias was so awesome last night! Vaughn told Jack he didn't handle is problems with violence

Update

I see a light at the end of the tunnel as far as the project's concerned hopefully I'm not just being optimistic. I definitely should skip my morning class tomorrow since doing work is more productive than listening to others do their presentations. I always feel bad about doing that though. That's probably the only way I can be considered "studious" however.... When I turned on the TV last night, they were showing the Red Sox game that had been rained out the night before. (Hail in Texas? WTF?) I was expecting Enterprise. So I went down to do work. At 9pm, I decided to take a break. Good thing I did to because that's when the game ended and Enterprise came on. What did I think of it? I thought it was very good indeed. The main plot of Archer convincing Degra to join him against the other Xindi, particularly the Reptiles, was very well done. Degra and the Sloth guy were just skeptical enough without being overly obstinate. T'Pol's ove

Time to Blog

I really can't afford to take any time off but I have much to catch you all up on. Smallville rocked. It's hard to say who exactly is more of a threat to Clark: Lionel or Dr. Garner. I thought it was neat that it turns out Clark's first word was "Lara" which is of course his mother. You knew it was really Lillian who killed Julian but it's highly understandable that Lex would take the fall for it given Lionel's state of mind. Angel was merely a space filler this week. There had to be an episode where the Illyria situation was more or less resolved but there's only so many ways to do it I think. The other storyline with the demon cult wanting some woman's baby was even less interesting but plays a major role in upcoming episodes. Obviously, Angel is just pretending to give in to the Senior Partners and act like a lawyer but the question is what does he hope to gain by it? Oh, did anybody notice Mercedes McNab was finally added to

Work? What's That?

Sooner or later Lady Vader will ask what I thought of Charmed so I'm taking time out to tell you and what I thought of Alias as well. Charmed had it's good points and bad points. As clip shows go, it had a good story but how they thought no one would notice no Prue clips I'll never know... I honestly didn't see that Barbas, who isn't my favorite demon but seemed to work here, set the whole thing up. I figured it was just horrible luck on the part of the sisters. Well done. With Piper out of commission, Phoebe having her powers taken away gives us some good story potential. Paige is left to fight evil by herself. Paige has gotten the shaft lately and this might give her the chance to shine. Now the bad. The episode was understandably Piper-lite. I hate Piper-lite episodes! Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum, I'm not saying which is which, can't carry an episode by themselves. Chris is really getting on my nerves. He better not be on the show next seaso

No Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends? WTF?

Finally a new episode of Enterprise. Overall, the episode was good, I guess. We finally find out why T'Pol has been acting so emotional lately. Perhaps that's why the earlier Vulcan expedition into the Expanse went wrong. Could they have been experimenting with Trellium D in an effort to experience emotions as well? While it might have been nice to resolve the issues brought up during part one of this, I suppose it's good they are continuing it throughout the rest of the season. While the main plot was certainly original I don't think I like the implications. Attacking a ship to steal a warp coil is not how Star Trek should go. This is a Babylon 5 plot. Archer kept justifying it by saying they really need the warp coil. No, they didn't. They are already are in Xindi space near the weapon. They don't need warp any time soon and can wait for someone else to come along to help them. I know this is a hundred and 10 years before the Original Series but this

Thursday's Child

Smallville was fairly interesting last night. Chloe came very close more than once to discovering Clark's secret. Of course, what kind of reporter is she if she hasn't by now? She should also know that Lionel would stop at nothing to keep his secrets. Hacking into voicemail wouldn't be that hard for him to do but I applaud her for trying. I don't know how I feel about Pete being interested in Chloe. On one hand, it makes sense that he would since they'd been friends for years and that he wouldn't tell her because of her "obsession" with Clark but all of these things I could think of to do very easily. I suppose I'm being to hard on them. Convenient that Pete had another secret to spill... Ohh, the return of Connor. Somehow, I don't blame him for wanting to go back to that make believe life although with the spell broken how do they know who he is? The best line in the show was Hamilton saying to Angel that they wouldn't be &q

Weekend at Bernie's

Ok, no, I was not staying with a dead guy but if it was any harder getting home today, someone might have been. Ok, I understand, don't like but understand, the T being crowded due to the Marathon and traffic being a clusterfuck. What I don't understand is why the freaking doors of the car I was in didn't open. Why trap me in a car with dehydrated runners throwing up? Consequently, I missed the stop I wanted to get off at and had to lug my freaking bag that much farther. Charmed was worth the wait I think. Even uglified, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is still hot although I will say her appearance didn't say "spider" to me. I think Chris needs to grow the hell up. Being an Elder, Leo doesn't have much time for the family. Frankly, Chris is/was/will be, whatever, the least likely to be in danger. I don't think it's Leo's fault. I would guess it's Gideon's. Perhaps not surprisingly, Phoebe's "speed dating" was t

Can You Hear Me, Major Tom?

Finally, some new TV on. Smallville was interesting. When Swann told Clark he intercepted a message originating from Earth I was hoping it meant another Kryptonian was on Earth but the fact it was Jor-El sending a message to Jonathan is good enough I guess. I too am curious as to just what Jor-El's plan for Jonathan is. The writers have been teasing us. Rumors have been flying that either Jonathan or Lionel will die. In this episode, it could have happened to either one of them. It was equally exciting to see Angel. 1950's style suburbia is my idea of hell as well. I wonder if Gunn was going to be written off all along or if the plot point was added when the cancellation notice came down. Ohh! An action sequence with Harmony! Cool! When Hamilton shoved his fist through that security guard it was admittedly gruesome but kinda cool at the same time. So the Senior Partners gave Angel and Co. the offer merely to get them out of the way while the Apocalypse happened. L

Another Really Big Post

HAHAHAHA Find out what anime character cliche you are. Alias was so good on Sunday. I found it interesting that Vaughn considered the warnings from both Syd and Jack so easily. Lauren either is that bad at her job or Vaughn really loves Syd more than he will admit which isn't surprising at all when you think about it. Lauren's secret life was revealed but I was sure it would have been earlier, at the doctor's house. I was amused by their thought "The Passenger" is Irina. Close but no... I freely admit I was one of the 11 million people who watched the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey variety special. It was like a train wreck. It was so horrible yet I couldn't pull away... Now, I'm really worried I'm going to be kicked out of the Library Science program for not maintaining a B average. I purchased my cap and gown from a co-worker at RCC saving twenty bucks. Would that not suck, getting kicked out just before I get the damn degree?

Thinking About Last Night

I watched the movie Basic with John Travolta on HBO last night. It wasn't bad. There are like 4 basic plot twists military thrillers have all employed. This film had all four and added one that I'm sure has been used before but none come to mind at the moment. Hey! Proof that if you complain about something long enough, things change: I was flipping around the channels last night and we now have NESN so for the last 4, 5 weeks of school we can finally watch the Red Sox more than once a week. And Bruins playoff action if I'm so inclined.

A Really Big Post

Enterprise was a repeat last night but I had missed it the first time. Because of this, some of my comments may be a little strange. I actually thought the episode was pretty good. Introducing the sphere building aliens the way the did was very well done. It revealed just enough without revealing too much. (The next new episode will do that nicely and at a better time in the storyline.) I know I've said this twice, but I want there to be a story that deals with The T'Pol -Trip-Archer love triangle. Two comments about the events last night: after Trip and T'Pol "explore human sexuality" what happened to Trip's MACO chick? And can I use that "exploring human sexuality" line to save face the next time I do that stupid e-mail thing as you all know I will? Some may argue that T'Pol was not acting Vulcan. My response is that if we use her excuse about the scientific experiment, well, that answers that. If we don't, as you shouldn't

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way Home From Dinner

Stepping between worlds What's Your Anime Power? We were coming into the dorm and walked past the bathroom door. On the door, we have a bulletin board advertising upcoming events. There was a new one: "Flicking the Bean" which is something on female masturbation. It included a picture of a very large sex toy. I laughed so hard. Then I went back to my room and laughed some more. Ah the joys of going to a women's college... I got home somehow twenty minutes earlier this afternoon. It was freaking sweet let me tell you. I also got a fourth cheese added to my Three Cheese sandwich, also freaking sweet. I finished the survey tabulations. My supervisor was not entirely happy with the results. Did he honestly think students would give thoughtful responses? I think not...

Stuff

Comment 1: Earlier this evening, I was reading more about this fall TV season as I am wont to do lately. Ed O'Neill and Jennifer Love Hewitt apparently will have a sitcom on ABC. Before Alias , I used to say the letters stood for A Bunch of Crap. I think that pretty much sums that up. Comment 2: Once again, Simmons has seriously curtailed my sports watching but this time doubly so. The Red Sox are being shown on ESPN2 which I have except in Boston where it's being shown on NESN which I do not have. I don't fault NESN for picking up the game. Why does whoever decides the channel line-up here at Simmons think that women don't watch sports? So anyway, I'm forced to listen to it on the radio. To top that off, The UCONN women are playing right now, whether Lady Vader likes it or not, and it's being shown on ESPN which we do have but has never come in well. The fact that it has never been fixed may answer the question above yet I will point out

My First Dream Blog

The dream started with my parents, Deuce and I at the house of a Korean family I didn't know. I got the impression it was just dinner but we were given rooms to take naps prior to it. This was the last I saw of Deuce but more on that later. I apparently was first to wake up. I went down stairs and opened a door letting out two rabbits who somehow I knew were one of each gender. They were the most affectionate rabbits I have ever met. Almost cat-ish that way. Soon the others woke up and it was time for dinner. The character of Deuce was now played by a woman I've been talking quite a bit about lately. As we sat down at the table, she was quite impressed by the production. I said something to the affect of "They go all out." Then our hostess was upset I wasn't sitting at the "ocean place setting." I woke up before I could find it. Here's some context: 1. My parents are going to Korea at the end of the month. 2. I had just talked

Which Broadway Musical Are You Destined to perform in? by dangerousgame Name/Nickname Age Sex Color Broadway Musical Jekyll and Hyde Part Lead Created with quill18 's MemeGen 3.0 ! Technically, not a quiz so my vow has not been broken. Even though this is completely random, this answer is accurate on more than one level. Over 6 inches of rain fell on us over the last God knows how long. Hopefully, "Lake Brookline" will recede soon so I can actually get to the main campus without completely drenching my feet in like a foot of water. My sneakers are still damp. Closing in on the finish line on the survey tabulation at work. I finished the original batch of surveys but new ones came in today. One of the recurring answers is that people feel we need more librarians. Could this be a freaking job opportunity for me? Unfortunately, it seems to me the bigger problems are the need for more, and better-functioning, computers and audiovisual equipment. Oh well...

Literary Commentary: Yeah Right...

I really don't have much to say so today will be short. Again, I'm not putting up a new quiz until the images from the old ones show up. I read two articles about the fall TV season. In addition to The Practice spin-off with Spader and Shatner, it looks like Camryn Manheim wants to make a half-hour sitcom around her character. Somehow I don't think that'll be good at all... Speaking of Shatner, I was also reading that he has a way to have Kirk appear on Enterprise even though the show takes place like a hundred and ten years before his time. Eh, it's science fiction. Kirk has gone back in time on numerous occasions. Actually, there's still a part of him in the Nexus where time has no meaning. Shatner says that he's waiting to see if the show is renewed before he brings his idea to producers. Why waste it?

Alias was very good as usual. Jack's effort to expose Lauren may have been made harder but you and I both know he will not give up. I was shocked when Lauren went to kill her father and it wasn't her who actually did the killing. (I'll refrain from saying who did in case someone hasn't seen it.) This actually explains perhaps how Lauren got involved with the Covenant in the first place. During that fabulous scene, a little news preview box came up in the corner of the screen to tell you Shatner has indeed joined the cast of the as-yet-unnamed Practice spin-off. I'm so excited. I almost fell off the furniture I was sitting on twice from laughing so hard during Sunday's episode. "I do not like being talked about when I'm in the corridor and last I checked I was in the corridor." This new show has potential to be my favorite since James Spader also cracks me up as Alan Shore. I see it as a more coherent Ally McBeal . Comment on Avera

Night of Colin Firth

First, a quiz: The sixth book written, you're nevertheless the first chronologically. You not only describe the creation of Narnia and tell where the White Witch, the lamppost and the wardrobe came from, you get to bounce between worlds with the help of Uncle Andrew's weird magic rings. Find out which Chronicles of Narnia book you are. Last night, I saw a surprisingly good movie. What A Girl Wants with Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth. I was afraid it would be too much of a teen movie but it really wasn't that at all. It was a father-daughter bonding movie which is much better. There was several scenes with Amanda trying on clothes and there were a few outfits she looked very good in. Once again, I'm going to hell... My new favorite quote is now: "Oh, poop on toast!" After, I went down to the TV room where Shakespeare in Love was just beginning. Colin Firth appears as a real ass. Too bad, SNL wasn't the one he hosted. We might have

What Type of Villain are You? mutedfaith.com . Hmm. I was just thinking about Soran the other day. How odd. I took this quiz because I was cast as the villain in another quiz so I thought it was fitting. Another comment about it: Lexx was a horrible show. Take the What High School Stereotype Are You? quiz. Fairly accurate although my family is more functional than most. Not that anybody will read it but I started a piece of original fiction today. It's posted at Fiction Press. Readers of this blog will immediately recognize at least part of the basis of the story but I don't care. Read it!

Hmm I Don't Remember This Coupling

Your ideal Middle-Earth parents are Faramir and Eowyn! Do you have any idea ho difficult it is to find pictures of your mom and dad together? That's because Faramir usually holds the camera. Anywho, they are the prince and princess of Ithilien, which will naturally give you some sort of impressive title. Your uncle omer is the king of Rohan, so when you were little you actually got that pony you asked for. And a beautiful Mustang on your sixteenth birthday, too! Considering who your parents are, you'll probably be tall and attractive. Your Middle-Earth mama is Lady Eowyn of Rohan. she's one of the coolest women in the history of ever! She faced down the Witch-King of Angmar and his fell beast for her uncle, so you know she will do just about anything to protect you. She will probably teach you to ride a horse and use a sword and spear properly, not to mention letting you visit your uncle Eomer and aunt Lothiriel all the time. Your Middle-Earth dad is Faramir of G

This morning at work I spent all morning tabulating the results of a survey we actually still have in progress but many have already come in so my supervisor wanted to start now. I'm in the middle of the non-open-ended (Is close-ended a word?) opinion questions answered by students taking classes during the day. (Other categories include Evening Students, Day and Evening Faculty, Staff, and Other, which is mainly what appears to be students who are too immature to fill out a survey properly.) So far there really is no prevalent opinion, positive or negative, on any area of library service we provide although I have a good feeling on the reference service portion which, since February or so, has been me... By the way, their commentary on steroid use in last night's episode was rather poiniant in their own special way... Finally saw the Enterprise episode "Chosen Realm" last night. Frankly, I didn't miss much. The plot of religious fanatics taking over the ship has been done at least twice. ("Way to Eden," TOS and Star Trek V ) This time, though they were dressed like Native Americans for some reason, they were more like Christian Right religious than hippies. They didn't want transport to the "12th Sphere." They wanted to use the ship to destroy people who don't believe as they do: that the Expanse was created in 9 days
