I Was Almost Charlie's Angels...

Which Action Star Are You? Find out @ She's Crafty I am currently on vacation. OK, so my parents are and I'm just merging my vacation with theirs. What-the-fuck-ever. I saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban the other day. I have not read the first three books so I was very pleased with it. The 2 hours and twenty-something minutes went by very quickly. I was disappointed Lupin left at the end. He seemed like an important character. (God knows Maggie Smith is just a waste of space considering her talent and she returns year after year...) I loved seeing Dawn French as the Fat Lady and it's about time Robert Hardy appears in these things. (Minister of Magic) I did miss John Cleese although if you must cut something his scenes did seem to be rather useless in the first two films. I loved how Emma Watson acted more feminine with her purse and her comment "Is that what my hair looks like from the back?" I've started reading Goblet of Fire. It&

Everybody Does Not Love Raymond

First off, in case you really were wondering and since no one has tagged I'm assuming you didn't, I didn't actually scan anything but I guess there's another wedding later in the summer so maybe I'll scan another then. Yesterday was fairly eventful. We all went to my mother's church to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my parent's ordination. An old family friend came from Cleveland to preach. Both congregations attended and there was a lot of presents and picture taking. After they flew home, and Father's Day stuff happened, none of which really compared to the morning, we watched Welcome to Mooseport which could have been a lot worse but more about Maura Tierney's underwear, like her in it, would have improved things greatly. After my parents went to bed, I watched the movie Underworld . I was pleasantly surprised to find it actually had a more than reasonable plot and was quite entertaining. Having a R rating, I assumed we'd see

Day Three

I have really nothing new to report. My job here is finishing up very soon. They'll be back tomorrow afternoon. I scanned one of my stories, written junior year of high school, on to a disk yesterday. Considering how long ago that was, I think the story, about a sea monster attack on the coast of Maine, still reads pretty good. (The sequel is already posted at FictionPress.) I don't think there will be time to scan all the pieces I brought with me so I have to pick one. Though I realize no one will respond until it's too late to pick, here are the options: 1. Man goes to high school reunion reconnecting with lost love. (Yes, I know how similar that is to the story in progress over at FictionPress but this was written about six years ago.) 2. Naval captain has psych evaluation after apparently firing on a Chinese vessel. 3. New chapter to Guliver's Travels written senior year of high school. If you care, I wil tell you which I chose. What more c

At least I'm Not A Woman

Take the quiz: "Which 'Queer Eye' Guy Are You?" Carson You are Carson! You're a diva with a fine-tuned sense of style. You have a thing for pet names and Prada. You're hot stuff and you know it, but you can be kind to the little people with littler fashion sense. Right, peanut?

Day Two

Smokey seems to be missing his family more than he did last year or at least is showing it more. Ah well. I couldn't get him to walk for me yesterday but he went for like 45 minutes this morning. Yay! I went out last night to special worship service at the Bushnell. It was supposedly ecumenical but it was like 90% African American churches. Can I get an Amen? Anyway, I didn't think of the emotional toll it would take on Smokey. He's used to a family of four (one of whom is agoraphobic) and now he just has me. I feel really bad for him. I know he'll be ok but still...

Day One

I have begun taking care of the dog. It's been almost three hours since they left and I think things are settling down. (He has finally at any rate.) It's a good thing too because I didn't know how much more of him just staring at me I could stand... Yes, it is confusing for most creatures if guests arrive and your family leaves instead but getting into a staring contest with a dog gets so boring quickly... This should be good overall. They have a scanner so I can put some of my old writings on disk. Woo hoo! A quiz: Take it: "Which Random Irish Gaelic Phrase Are You? " Ta me air meisce Ta me air meisce - 'I am drunk.'You enjoy a drink - or five - now and then. You can usually be found in a pub - it doesn't matter which one, because they all look the same after a few drinks - or hugging the porcelain. I have never drank until I threw up. Drank until I blackout in the bushes with a copy of Batman and Robin in my hand, yes, but not 'ti

Do You Still Know the Muffin Man?

I saw Shrek 2 with my mother last night. That was absolutely fabulous. (The creator of that particular Britcom, Jennifer Saunders played the villain of the piece, btw...) Critics have said it's better than the original. I don't know if I'd go that far but it was definitely just as good as the first. I don't know if you've seen it but our cat Susie did that Puss N Boots "cute face" three times last night... This weekend I will be once again house/pet sitting for that retired seeing eye dog as I did over July 4th weekend last year. It would be for as long and I, of course, did it before but I'm still a little nervous. Why? I don't know...

When to a Greek Festival in Hartford then took a nap before going to a pool party. At the Festival, I ate tirokopeida which translates as "cheese pie." It was sooo good. It was, perhaps not surprisingly, like Bosnian cheese pita but infinitely better. I also learned that MGD goes well with rice pudding... Yes, I did indeed say I went to a pool party. (Heated, of course.) It was the end of the year party for the youth group (6th-8th graders) of my mother's church. It wasn't that bad. A major topic of conversation was the new Harry Potter film...

Been A Long Time.

French Guard Hello, long time no type. I've been unusually busy the last few days. This past weekend, I fed a family friend's cat while they were away. It was really easy but did not pay that much at all. On Monday, we went to the Lobsterfest at Mystic Seaport. That was pretty fun. My father parked the car near Mystic Pizza and asked me if I thought we'd see Julia...(If you knew my father you wouldn't be surprised...) We toured this whaling vessel and the ceilings below decks were so low I banged my head like three times. The last two days I've been doing a job for my mother cropping digital images and inserting them in documents. That did pay pretty well... Been watching a lot of movies lately. In addition to reseeing Back to the Future , Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade , Grease and Duets , we also went to see Laws of Attraction in the theater. Not a bad movie although the script could have used some tweaking. It did have Julianne Moore
