This will be long but probably not too informative because, that's not how I roll... Before I left to go up to keep my father and cat company in the absence of my mother who was at a church youth thing in TN, we watched the live action Alvin and the Chipmunks . Overall, it was a great film and throughout the movie they answered my "But what about this?" questions. (I'm still not sure why Simon could see with the random pair of glasses Dave gave him and not the pair Ian forced him to wear since neither pair was prescription but whatever...) I wanted more music as well. When I heard that the Yankees were coming to town the weekend I was going up to see my father, I thought that was awesome timing. My team failed me. We went to the Old Port Festival yesterday. The weather was infinitely better than the year before. Sadly, this meant it was way more crowded. I got in line for pizza and, apparently, because the line was so long, my aunt got worried so went to go looking for me! (She is my father's sister...) We got tired of crowds so we went to the movies and saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull . I thought it was really good. If you've seen the other movies, and I keep encountering more and more people who haven't, the formula is fairly intact despite the later date (1957) but it had some new twists. Cate Blanchett played a Soviet scientist from the Ukraine and I freely admit it gave me some character ideas...I must comment on one thing: in the previous films, the fedora was glued, stapled, whatever to Ford's head. So my aunt and uncle came up from New Jersey on Tuesday so Wednesday, we went to Applebee's to meet them and my grandparents for lunch. Overall, I suppose it was a good experience but I would recommend the soup and salad option unless like a very small lunch. I was expecting big bowls of both not little tiny ones. The food itself was very good, however. Because of the handicapped taxi being very busy my cousin and I had to hang out in the parking lot for probably 45 minutes. Let's say I enjoyed the margarita, well, margarita and a half really, I had later... (It didn't hurt that I finally know that waitress' name as well...) Saturday, I went up with my aunt and uncle to see my parents' new house. There was a turkey dinner at the church there that night to benefit the family of a baby whom is home now I guess but was born three months early. Good book but anyway not the point of this post. Yesterday, we went to the Sidewalk Art Festival downtown where there are artists of various quality and prestige selling their creations. They basically shut down the street alolwing people to walk up and down in the street to view the art. Even though it's gone on a good chunk of my life I've never actually gone. Of course, I live right here now. We arrived home to great news. My copy of Harry Potter finally arrived! I haven't had a lot of time to read so I'm only on Chapter 3 but hopefully that will change soon. We actaully had a couple of young and single people in church today so things may be looking up in the friend, maybe more, department as well... When we last left our heroes yesterday they had just gone to a concert at a casino in CT. And now, the continuation! The next morning, Thursday, I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning. I was lucky enough to have the associate dentist herself instead of a hygenist. My regular readers know why I say "lucky." Yes, she's very cute. I think I had the most fun conversation at the dentist that day than I've ever had in my life; at the dentist... I had mentioned I had moved to Maine and was down for a concert. "Poison?" she asked. "No, that was a few days ago. You don't look like a '80's metal fan..." When I told her I had gone to see Bob Dylan she didn't seem that surprised. I don't know what that means...She told me her boyfriend loves Poison and goes every year. She added that he "thankfully" doesn't make her go... That night, I think, we watched the movie Illusion which starred Kirk Douglas as a film director ...

Yesterday for lunch my aunt, roommate and I went to the 25th Annual Greek Festival held at the nearby Orthodox Church. The difference between this one and the one I went to in Hartford is this: they didn't have tirokopeida here just really good spanakopeida but the beer selection was so much better here as I didn't have to suffer through skanky beer but could get a local microbrew so, yay! After my dinner of leftover Chinese, we went back as there was an actual live band playing. The dancing was a let down as none of the really hot women seemed to participate... Since Stargate SG-1 has now ended, I suppose I should say a few words. While they didn't totally suck, I think the last two seasons were totally unnecessary. Adding new cast members is fine but I think people should have learned their lesson from Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda . You don't change the plot of the show mid-stream. Let me tell you something about my life. OK, now ends the Indigo Girls reference... Tuesday-My parents were visiting for reasons many of you know and the rest probably will eventually, so we did many an errand such as get a new bus pass which I've used quite a lot already and a new cell phone. Yes, I now have a cell phone for emergency purposes. I am never walking over a mile in a nor'easter again. No way in Hell. I tried to get a non-driver ID for the state for which I reside but apparently the ID I have doesn't count as proper identification which is very lame indeed. Also, yes, I'm not a minor but "parent or guardian" was on the list and my mother was there. WTF? So now, I need to get my birth certificate out of the safe or get married to get this stupid thing. I probably wouldn't care but the ID I have expires in October which I guess means I won't be able to not drive... Wednesday, my parents and my grandmother came to see my apartment and then ...

It would probably be more accurate to say they won't rather than can't but the other way sounded better as a title. More on this later. My Oregonian cousin who's been in Western Mass. all summer stayed with us for the past week and a half before going home today. I'm eight years older and have different life experiences but we have Marvel Comics in common. (She read many of my Spider-man and X-men comics.) Once my father and I got her into the Red Sox we had something else in common but this wasn't the best week to do that I think. (Damn them!) She's way into Christian music and every t-shirt she wore, except one, had a Christian theme. At first, I thought the rap was the worst but yesterday we heard this chick who sounded like Avril Lavigne and you know how much I love her... (Speaking of "chick rock," I listened to excerpts of Paris Hilton's new album and her cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" was pretty good. I'm not kidding.)...

The Stargate television series are back with new episodes. Stargate SG-1 impressed me at times and depressed me at others. The overall story of Adria is interesting but there were two occurrences in this episode that were not original at all. Yes, I did say that there was nothing original anymore any way but these two things could have been avoided. I refer to Daniel being presumed dead then (Surprise, surprise.) being found alive on the enemy vessel. How many times has this happened over the ten years? Many many times and it's always Daniel or Jack... Also, I believe this was the third, or even fourth, time Teal'c was tortured. C'mon people! Atlantis , on the other hand, rocked! My one complaint is that they consistently find cool Ancient ships and then trash them before they can become a significant part of the show. Why? These are pictures from my first trip down to Southwest Florida this past October. The 'rents and I are going back down tomorrow so I thought I'd give all one of you a clue to where I was. This is a local park called Ponce De Leone Park. I like this shot because it shows some differences between down there and up here. There's some pretty tacky homes down there. Some homes, maybe that one, are worth about a million dollars and don't look much more interesting than that. By the way, we hope to see a real manatee or two this time... This is Gilchrist Park. That water in the lower left corner is actually part of a big fountain. Again, this shot shows a big difference in climate from up here. Interestingly, this park has the more extravagant Ponce De Leone statue/monument. Weird... We will probably visit this park again at least once while we're down. First off, I’d like to welcome all new you new readers to my blog. I have much random topics brewing in my head so let’s begin. My parents are in Scotland right now so I’m here alone with the cat. It’s been a few days and I still turn the tv volume down at night and covwer myself with a towel coming out of the shower even though there are no humans here to care. Susie doesn’t seem to care either way. A couple weekends ago, my parents and I took a trip to Ohio. The main purpose of the trip was to see an old friend who near death but we also saw some other old friends and toured the headquarters of the UCC in Cleveland. My part of the trip was to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That s the best museum I have ever been to in my life. We literally stayed all day. I haven’t done that in a museum ever. Here's some thoughts on my recent vacation: The Red Sox game we saw in Toronto totally rocked. (I know there's a whole other month to the season but last night was so cool.) My father and I went up most of the way of the CN Tower and that was fun. We were planning to go to this mall called the Distillery but who new there were two Mill Streets? We also went to Niagara Falls and visited the MGM store. It was mostly Bond and Pink Panther merchandise. Where's the Stargate stuff? Once again, Atlantis was really good, with guest star Colm Meany, but the original show just was lacking in so many ways including predictability. Two Justice League episodes to relate. "Hawk and Dove" was fairly interesting though you came realize the surprise ending a little too early. An appearance by Queen Audrey may have been interesting. I will be heading to Toronto on Tuesday so I wanted to give you one last post for you secret blog readers that don't comment before I go.
