Friday TV Recap

Stargate SG-1 was very good last night in many respects. It had never occurred to me that Osiris would use Sarah's past with Daniel to extract information but I'm glad someone thought of that. I'll be interested to see how Sarah adjusts to being "normal" again. Will she remain with the show in a recurring capacity? That might be interesting. Overall I wasn't too interested in the Carter love story but now that her new boyfriend knows everything, I wonder what will happen. He doesn't seem like the type to blab to the press but what if agents of Anubis or Baal kidnap him to get to Carter? Then again, they seemed to be able to protect Cassie from Nurti so maybe everything will work out. I'm interested to see how it's done.

The Wildest is Yet to Come!

Your wings are BROKEN and tattered. You are an angelic spirit who has fallen from grace for one reason or another - possibly, you made one tragic mistake that cost you everything. Or maybe you were blamed for a crime you didn't commit. In any case, you are faithless and joyless. You find no happiness, love, or acceptance in your love or in yourself. Most days are a burden and you wonder when the hurting will end. Sweet, beautiful and sorrowful, you paint a tragic and touching picture. You are the one that few understand. Those that do know you are likely to love you deeply and wish that they could do something to ease your pain. You are constantly living in memories of better times and a better world. You are hard on yourself and self-critical or self-loathing. Feeling rejected and unloved, you are sensitive, caring, deep, and despite your tainted nature, your soul is breathtakingly beautiful. *~*~*Claim Your Wings - Pics and Long Answers*~*~* brought to you by Quizilla

loneliness dominates you. You can hide it well, but its there, and your friends can see it. You constantly feel alone, and need to do things to fill your time. Your afraid to tell people this, but sooner or later it gets out in a bad way, and you think you screwed up everything. And when you are in love is when you are sad the most. (Please Vote) What Emotion Dominates you? brought to you by Quizilla Today at work I did a lot of tech stuff. I apparently have become "the tech guy." I don't mind though. I much prefer helping with computer problems, such as connecting a monitor to a computer cabinet (Known by lay people as "the brain.") and attatching a file to an e-mail as opposed to signing people in to use a computer. That is so monotonous. I also helped, much more than I thought I'd have to, with a bibliographic instruction class. This means we showed them how to find a book in the online catalog and use our databases to find an article.

Thoughts Before I Shower

OK, I admit the best part about Smallville was the fight between Lana and Chloe. Poor Chloe. Agent White, ok he's Dr. Grimes or something here, really wanted her dead. I do have a question though. How did Jonathan get brainwashed? Wasn't it Martha's e-mail? My mother prints out her e-mail to show the rest of the family but I doubt the subliminal message would transfer to paper. And wouldn't Chloe wonder why Jonathan used kryptonite, or "meteor rock" on Clark? Ah, the return of Andrew, "the best" Giles had to offer...It was so great seeing him with Spike again. They are hilarious together. The story was interesting. It was hard for me to grasp the concept that Spike would torture a girl, as opposed to just vamping her, but, at the same time, I wasn't sure it really wasn't him. As a side note, I was mildly surprised Spike remembered Principal Woods' name. Yeah, sure they fought together but this is Spike we're talking

Day Two or Five Depending on How You Count

Congratulations!! You're a shot of some good old hard liquor! What Drink Are You? brought to you by Quizilla A work study student started at the library today and the snow which, I swear, didn't start until after I arrived at work (WTF?) seemed to keep the crowd down from yesterday. Today wasn't as bad at any rate. The Green Line this morning was a bitch. It was so friggin' crowded, I was illegally standing on the entry stairs until the Arlington stop, I think, which is just a couple stops before I get off anyway. My knee started to spasm so that was fun... I found out today that my Physical Therapy will start a week from today. Hmm.

Well, Well, The Quiet Geek is the Quiet Beatle.

George Which Beatle are you? brought to you by Quizilla Let me just tell you right now that if you ask to use a computer, I will kill you. This is how I spent my morning as well as helping new patrons go on a "Library Treasure Hunt." Wanna snazzy new pencil? (I hope six inches fall through tomorrow morning because I don't know how much more I can take.) I then took a taxi, after having to call them a second time, to the Trauma clinic. I was like a half hour late but thankfully I was taken right in. My arm supposedly will feel better in about a week or so and I'm done with them. (I still have to deal with PT and the orthopedist but that'll be over before long.) The laceration on my nose has seemingly fully healed. Yay! Did I tell you I've started classes? My teachers (in order of class time) Orville Redenbacher, A fat, and much less funny, Marcia Wallace of Bob Newhart fame as well as the voice of Mrs. Kerbapple on The Simpsons and tha

Charmed I'm Sure

I just had a full day of class so I apologize if this makes no sense. Charmed would have been the best episode of the season if Phoebe wasn't in it. The Swarm demons were cool. Richard trying to rid himself of bad karma was cool. Piper all worried about Wyatt turning evil was cool. I also absolutely loved Jason's "prolonged pee break" line. That was awesome. Phoebe does not need an excuse to look and act slutty so they really didn't need to give her one. Maybe it's just me but the ribbon tats on her back are fugly. I also am rather glad her relationship with Jason is on the rocks. He really bored me. I'm not happy that it'll be revealed next week that Chris's parents will be Piper and Leo. This makes no sense. It was Chris who split them up in the first place or at least seemed to want Leo killed by the Valkeries. Also, if he really is Wyatt's full-blooded brother why is under powered? He can't even heal! ::Shrugs::

I Guess I Missed Blogging

Other actors that should be added to the list of recurring actors in Trek is Carolyn Seymour and Vaughn Armstrong. They each also played at least three characters in the history of the franchise. Seymour has never worn enough make-up to hide the fact it's her and her voice is always recognizable anyway but she deserves a mention. Armstrong has put a little more effort into it (or at least make-up supervisor Michael Westmore has.) He's appeared as numerous roles. None, except Admiral Forrest and a couple others perhaps, have been all that recognizable. Another argument for Jeffrey Combs to be a regular cast member of a series is that both Tim Russ and Armin Shimmerman appeared as multiple Trek characters and both landed main cast roles in series. (To this I also add that Tim Russ played a human twice and Tuvok is a horrible character.) The best argument is that while all the actors I've mentioned have appeared in at least three episodes or movies, th

Saturday TV Update

You are Gollum! Oooh. Slimy. You are totally devoted to the Ring, to the point where it has actually driven you schizo. Though not really a looker, you are hugely cunning and always scheming to get what you want. Very easily corrupted, but at least you do get the Ring in the end which is more than Sauron can say! You are our favourite baddie of them all. Be proud! Which Lord of the Rings baddie are you? (FINISHED WITH PICS!) brought to you by Quizilla Because my cartoons are into repeats, again only one show to cover here. ( I see that Alias is a repeat tonight by the way so this pattern will probably last awhile. ) Deuce apparently believes, if I understood him correctly, that this week's episode of Enterprise was the best of the series. Personally, I don't think it was even the best of the season. ("Twilight" comes immediately to mind.) Don't get me wrong though. This episode was very very good. Shran is a very interesting character and def

Friday TV Update

There is only one show to cover on this night so this post should be short. The best part of Stargate SG-1 last night was the end. I know this sounds mean but let me explain. One would think I'd care about a planet blowing up but everyone on that planet are assholes. O'Neill breaking the deal to help them evacuate was probably a good move. (Hell, the planet was saved anyway.) In itself, the revelation of a Go'auld spy was not that exciting but Sam clearly stating they weren't leaving her to die caught my attention. I would have liked to know where O'Neill disappeared to in the middle of the episode but I suppose that's nit picky. It also might have been nice to know why Baal didn't send anyone to investigate why his spy never reported in. (Since she's dead, she not ever likely to.) This episode was based on a story by Corrin "Jonas" Nemeck which means he wanted work...

Wednesday TV Update

What Finding Nemo Character are You? brought to you by Quizilla Before I get into what I thought of Smallville and Angel let me try to update you on my condition. I saw the orthopedist today and my arm, which did sustain a small hairline fracture, is no longer in a sling and is more or less usable if I don't put too much weight on it. My knee is in a smaller, more flexable "patella stabilizer." So I'm back in Boston and have much female support already. Heh. Smallville technically had an FOW plot but I'm not going to talk about that. Clark gained superhearing and glasses. Because the hearing developed to compensate Clark's blindness, I wonder if kryptonite affects it. Offhand, I can't think of any example either way to answer this from the comics. I always thought that Clark's glasses as an adult were fake, and maybe they are, but this episode does make you wonder. As a man, I recognize certain women's individual scent whethe

Notice

I apologize for not posting but I was hit by a car on Friday afternoon. My left knee dislocated and is now immobilized. My right elbow is either slightly fractured or sprained, depending on who you ask, and is in a sling. I am home in CT. My condolences go out to the Tuthill family on the loss of the Colts. Go Pats! Charmed was pretty good although Phoebe and Page's good intentioned meddling was juvenile. The demons were interesting though. There's more still to Chris than meets the eye. My gut feeling tells me he's really just a quarter Whitelighter and he's Paige's son but we'll have to see. Also, I really didn't like the message that you can't give up sexual love or you'll die. Isn't mother and child love enough? Alias was quite good. Lauren works for the Covenant? Hmm. Are the writers caving to fan reaction or did they plan this from the beginning? Addendum to last post: Angel really doesn't sleep but I now recall Sp

At Least I'm Not Tony Blair Whom I Like for the Most Part

"Wait, I'm not a dictator!" you cry! Well lets look at the check list: Unelected? Check! Use wars and xenophobia to boost popularity? Check! Total control of the media so they never say a bad word against you? Check! Kill scores of innocent people to get what you want? Check! Do anything to get your hands on oil? Check! Inhumane treatment of prisoners? Check! Face it, you're a dictator, and no amount of gloss will hide that fact… or the fact you're a borderline retard who looks like a monkey! What tin-pot dictator are you? Take the "What Dictator am I?" test at PoisonedMinds.com Smallville was a good diversion last night with the cool moments. Clark has exhibited stupidity that goes along with his age but he thought of the fact that if his powers were stolen so was his weakness rather quickly. I liked that. I also thought that those two past FOWs were two of the better ones. (It doesn't hurt them that they happen to be played by

Oddness and Memories

You are Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice . You're pretty arrogant, but that pride stems from the deep-seated knowledge that you are generally the most superior creature in any given room. The good news is that you are deeply loyal to your family, and you have a generous and charitable streak, even though most people don't notice because you are too busy practicing a large vocabulary of stern looks. Which Jane Austen Character Are You? brought to you by Quizilla I found out today that it's the anniversary of the first Human Be-in that took place at Golden Gate Park. As Lady Vader, and maybe Deuce, knows this was a fairly major plot point (appearances by people pretending to be Grace Slick and Janis Joplin might have been good but what can you do) of this week's Charmed. Of all the shows to commemorate anything Charmed is not the first show I'd think of. Dark Skies had an episode about it as well with Don "Ralph Mouth" Most as Timothy Le

The Return to the Working World

Earth The Force of Nature Quiz brought to you by Quizilla I started my internship today. The 3 1/2 hours were mainly spent watching a video seminar on customer service. Not knowing what had been going on in the library, I really couldn't contribute to the discussions on how to improve things in the area of customer service. I did realize one thing though. Actions really do speak louder than words or, more to the point, body language is what is picked up not words. The lecturer told people to touch their cheek but touched her chin. What did I touch? My chin! Because it took an hour fifteen to get there last time, I allowed myself and hour and a half this morning, getting up at 5am. It took 45 minutes. I could have slept an extra half-hour! Argh! It did take an hour fifteen to get home though. Why does the trains go slower at non-rush hour times? Obviously, because someone feels no one needs to get anywhere important if they're already at work.

Sunday TV Recap

Your: Happy eyes! Your cheerfull, bright and always want to try something new. Your inquisitive and quite lovable. You have many friends and will succseed in life. What type of eyes do you have? brought to you by Quizilla Charmed was much more entertaining than I thought. Young Penny and Alan were not as stereotypical hippy has I was afraid they would be. "Luther" was but what can you do? The scenes in the 60's were fun until Phoebe arrived and that pretty much killed it for me. I didn't particularly understand the slime plot but Wyatt rocks. Alias revealed it's secrets last night. Why would Syd trust Kendall at all? As bizarre as the truth was it actually makes a lot of sense. So that's what Dixon was hiding! Is the "passenger" the baby? Hmm Just when you think you can cut Lauren some slack they pull that. What's her game? Which side is she really on? We'll have to see I guess.

Back in Boston

Rain: You are the sound of rain. You have two important sides. There is your strong, powerful side and your calm, gentle side. Both are very important. Rain also reflects a bit of darkness in your personality. It isn't bad, just shows that along with the good, you also can see bad, which can come in handy. (please rate my quiz) What Sound Are You?(now w/ pics) brought to you by Quizilla He-man finished up the Snakemen storyline last night. Serpos was apparently the snake part of Snake Mountain. There were some very cool battle sequences. One final note: Chris Judge's voice is starting to rival Ed Asner with the amount of appearances in action cartoons. First Magneto now Zodac. Now I talk about the Red Sox a lot on this blog but I really should mention the Patriots. Did I call it or what? They beat the Titans last night and played rather crappy while doing it. Just as I predicted on Lady Vader's tagboard. Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything...They

Stargate SG-1

It was worth the wait I think although there were some problems. They didn't have their priorities straight I think. The a-plot with O'Neill rescuing Daniel in Central America should have been the b-plot while the mission to Tartaras should have held more importance since it will for the rest of the season if not the series. Specific thoughts on the A-plot are that it was kind of MacGuyver-like. O'Neill should have stopped the zombie using only a rubber band, a paper clip and a drinking straw. I loved Burke though and would be very happy if his new assignment was to the Atlantis team but probably won't be. With the B-plot, aside from wanting more of it, it might have been nice to discover who that Go'auld queen was. I loved the end where they used to the rings to transport the soldier into space. That rocked.

The Return of Wednesday TV Recap

Enterprise was better than I thought it would be last night. Finally, we see Archer beginning to act like himself. He didn't want the Sloths' killed or their livelihood destroyed. (It was a nice touch having Reed and Hayes argue for that though.) I think I finally understand what the writers are doing with Archer this season. They wanted him to start out on a revenge kick then slowly accept that not all Xindi are evil or know anything about what's going on with the weapon. This will probably lead up to the end of the storyline with Archer having to make a decision that'll affect the lives of innocent Xindi. Just a guess, of course, but could offer some good drama in episodes to come.

Rant

With a gift certificate I received for Borders, I bought The Very Best of Sheryl Crow which is missing a few really good tunes if they choose to call it that but over all is a very good album. "Picture" is on it so, yay, don't have to buy Kid Rock's album but I'm disappointed that the word he says at the beginning that's edited out on the radio is "cocaine." Somehow I pictured, no pun intended, that he was referring to a part of the female anatomy. I never understand why drug use is edited out of songs nowadays. They rarely, including this instance here, glorify it. (Gangsta rap excluded) I mean he's clearly not saying that doing cocaine is a good thing. By the same token, are the censors saying that going on a "liquid diet" of whiskey is acceptable for people to hear or is just the fact cocaine just happens to be illegal? I don't get it.

A Few Things to Say

You're taffy!! You're a clever and kind person, but you tend to hold grudges. You are not big on dishing out forgiveness. Which kind of candy are you? brought to you by Quizilla Because I miss doing a review, let me share my thoughts on the two He-man episodes I saw recently. The first one concerned them going down to Subternia to stop King Hiss from getting the amulet of Serpos the snake god. They are joined by Fisto who I guess was an old army buddy of Duncan. The Snake men get away but the episode was cool anyway. The second episode was more complicated. King Hiss planned to summon Serpos but was distracted first by Adam, Fisto, and Man-E-Faces infiltrating their hideout then by the news that Evil-Lynn planned to cast a spell at the Well of Darkness to release Hordak. Apparently, it was Hordak that stopped the Snakemen the first time before being stopped himself. Not knowing what was really going on, He-man fights the Snakemen on the River of Fire on the

Holiday Potpourri

My parents are skiing and I'm home alone with a cold. Now on to the post. Some of you may want to know what I got for Christmas. The entire first season of Alias on DVD, Sarah McLachlan's new album, gift certificates, clothes, a Dave Barry calendar, a book of Paul McCartney's paintings and a couple books which I have since read. I've seen three more movies: Seabiscuit, Pirates of the Caribbean and K-Pax. I'd say Seabiscuit was the best of the three but I need to think about it more how the other two films rank. There were pros and cons to both films. Congratulations! You're Sam! Which Lord of the Rings character and personality problem are you? brought to you by Quizilla
