Hawks and Other Stuff



Which flock do you follow?


The other day we had a hawk, a Northern Harrier to be specific, rip a pidgeon to shreds in or yard. The squirrels have returned but no birds yet. I had never seen that before except on tv I guess. It was something.

Went to the semifinals of the America East tournament the other day. We had thought Maine would be playing but the Lady Terriers of BU (We'll call them "The Bitches") had knocked them out. During the first game we were surrounded by Vermont fans. I'm pretty sure they don't get out to civilization much. The UHart fans during the second game were much better behaved. Of course, their team was winning...

I've recieved more rejections from libraries but I have three still out so here's hoping.

In other news, we recieved word on the stolen car. It was found like two towns over. It sustained damage to the dash where the radio was removed but I guess was more or less intact otherwise. The interesting twist is that, this past week, we just signed the car over to the insurance company so we don't even own it anymore. They gave us a nice check for it though so we be going car shopping this week.

With the discovery of the time-waster that is Facebook, I find I no longer need to waste my time here. This is mainly why I haven't done any quizzes or other memes here in a cat's age. The Big E and Other Commentary

Last night, we went to the Big E up in West Springfield. It was apparently Connecticut Day so the parade was all CT all the time. It was the longest parade I have ever watched. It went on like forever. We got a baked potato at the Maine Building and a Spiced Apple Cider Donut at the Vermont building as well as sharp cheese called "The Preacher." I wanted to get "The Green Mountain Boys" which was supposedly XX-sharp but my father wouldn't go for it. We then went to the Sam Adams Beer Garden where I ordered an Octoberfest. Mine was 20 ounces so it looked huge compared to the little cups of chardonnay my parents ordered. We then went over to get the special Big E cream puff. Has anyone heard Clay Aiken's new song? He's covering Badfinger's "Without You" of all things and, I really hate say this, it's pretty good... We're having another Movie Night a week from tomorrow. We've decided today that we're going to watch Akeela...

Rant and Update

First off, I must ask: Where the bloody hell is my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows ? I ordered the thing five days ago! I'm going to start reading spoilers soon! I really want to read this book! Anyway, so I'm still volunteering at the library. We're in the middle of an inventory now. I've also looked in the catalog, one, to see if we had certain new books already and, two, if we did, to see which branch. This week, I've been assigning call numbers to new books. I haven't done that at all since school and that was Library of Congress (LC) classification anyway while here they use Dewey and Cutter numbers. Tomorrow, I won't be going in as the librarian is out today and tomorrow and I did all the work she left for me already.
