It's Like I Should Post Every Hour...

Saturday night, we went to see The DaVinci Code. I liked it. One: the book is a work of fiction so everything in it isn't necessarily true anyway so the Catholic Church should just shut the hell up. It is true that they also don't acknowledge Jesus had a brother, an early leader in the Christian Church, which has been recently proven, because it destroys their belief Mary never had sex. Ever. Could have Jesus gotten some with Mary Magdalene and knocked her up? Why not? I mean there are several places in the Bible where he acted like a normal human...

As to the movie itself, acting by the supporting players impressed me more than the main actors. Sir Ian McKellan rocked as did token French actor Jean Reno. (If a movie needs a French actor, there he is.) Paul Bettany did a remarkable job as Silas considering what a wiseass he is in real life.

Tom Hanks was fine and it was good to get the old Tom back after such films as Road to Perdition, which was a good film but you know what I mean...My big problem with him here was he never proved to me why he in particular was needed for this role. Langdon is described as Harrison Ford in the book and the movie reminded me a lot of National Treasure, with a religious connotation, so they could have cast Nicolas Cage as well and it would have been the same movie.

The other thing I wanted to discuss was that I've been reminded of my geekiness lately and how it may hurt my chances of finding love. Recently, I realized I can't change this about me nor do I want to. Does this mean I have to settle for celibacy or getting involved with women I may or may not find attractive? Society suggests so but, at the moment I still have hope.

Geekiness will not hamper you in matters of love as long as you're not defined by your geekiness. If all you do is think, act, and talk about geeky things you're totally boring to most people and not skilled socially. (I know it's probably not you, hakuna matata) But if you're fun-loving and good at talking about a variety of topics, then surely your passion and knowledge of things geeky can only be endearing and helpful when it does come up.

I'm Diet Geek, but my bf is Hardcore Geek so I do get really embarrassed not when he's overtly geeky, but when he is overtly geeky at the wrong times to the wrong ppl. It's not a matter of being geeky, I'd be pissed if he were talking about sports. It's him not knowing his audience.

Well, I have met a few people that are way more geeky than me. I do not have every episode of every '80's tv show commmited to memory nor am I obsessed with video games or anime. And yes, I am able to converse about current events (though nowadays who can do that?), sports or religion as well as pop culture. I guess I just needed someone to notice...

Random Comments Into My Life

We did yardwork yesterday. I picked up a lot of sticks. Home Depot sucks on a Friday morning. My father and I went to get a new gascan for the mower and there was only one employee around to help us...and she didn't know anything about how these new fangled gas cans work... So due to a bank error when I reset my bank account so I could accurately keep track again, I had like a hundred dollars less in my account than I thought so my last bill payment put me in the hole. This would've been all right and easily fixed if I had been paid for the last week of my mailroom job but, oddly, I still have not been even though it's been weeks. I don't know if I can accurately convey how infuriated this makes me. If it doesn't happen soon, heads will roll! Also yesterday I re-watched the Enterprise episode "Regeneration"; this time with audio commentary from the writers. They made some valid points I hadn't considered on the issue of if this episode screws with...

Remind Me

Remind me to complain how boring and unexciting my life more often because as soon as I did, it got really exciting really fast. Last night, we had four visitors arrive from Korea. They like ziti and garlic bread. Go figure. They will be staying until Sunday night. I told my mother (AKA Hyacinth Bucket) she was making way too much salad but did she listen? No. Now we have this huge-ass bowl of salad in the fridge...What's really irritating is first the fork we use to serve catfood went missing now Susie's dish is missing as well... Tomorrow, I have a physical to prepare for my surgery then I go to my orthopedist's to fill out consent forms. Woo Hoo! I hope I can find time for a haircut as well because... Friday, I have a job interview at a library in Massachusetts! It's a reference job but I also will be conducting a book group. I've never done that but it sounds really fun. Sure, I'll be stuck reading many book that sucks but isn't that what book group i...

Your soul is bound to the Second Totem, Luna: The Wolf . Luna appears as a pair of coral colored wolves. She embodies empathy, nurturing, insight, and warmth . She is associated with the color coral, the season of spring, and the element of wind. Her downfall is pathos. You are most compatible with Doves and Ravens. Which Animal Spirit Totem Are You? brought to you by Quizilla I think I only clicked one of those qualities; maybe more. Odd but at least I'm not a Cockroach...
