The Ethinic Openness That Is Me

Yesterday for lunch my aunt, roommate and I went to the 25th Annual Greek Festival held at the nearby Orthodox Church. The difference between this one and the one I went to in Hartford is this: they didn't have tirokopeida here just really good spanakopeida but the beer selection was so much better here as I didn't have to suffer through skanky beer but could get a local microbrew so, yay! After my dinner of leftover Chinese, we went back as there was an actual live band playing. The dancing was a let down as none of the really hot women seemed to participate...

Since Stargate SG-1 has now ended, I suppose I should say a few words. While they didn't totally suck, I think the last two seasons were totally unnecessary. Adding new cast members is fine but I think people should have learned their lesson from Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda. You don't change the plot of the show mid-stream. The fact all three shows were filmed next door to each other can't be a coincidence. Only, Alias pulled this off and that's really only because I think people missed the real point of the show but I've already written about that...

As to the final episode itself, I worried that it would not have any finality to it since we all know the Ori storyline won't be concluded until the first direct-to DVD movie. I was very pleasantly surprised they actually did manage to pull it off. It was very moving. A few nitpicks, however. Killing off the Asgard was cliched (as was their gift) and who didn't see Teal'c volunteering to stay old? I mean he obviously hadn't aged as quickly as the others. Finally, the Daniel/Valla relationship, while hinted at ever since her introduction three years ago, still seemed forced. If they weren't trapped in a bubble for fifty years, they wouldn't be together and need I remind the one reader who cares about this paragraph but this is not the couple fans want to see get together anyway...

I wrap up my review with this:

Okay, the Daniel/Vala thing...WTF was up with his outburst and then "okay, let's sleep together." I thought, seriously, that someone had invaded his mind, because his behavior was SO not Daniel like. That was the STUPIDEST part of the whole episode. Cam destroying his room was pretty sweet, though.

I see Daniel's reaction as pity sex which is a terrible basis for a relationship! Even I know that!

Random Comments Into My Life

We did yardwork yesterday. I picked up a lot of sticks. Home Depot sucks on a Friday morning. My father and I went to get a new gascan for the mower and there was only one employee around to help us...and she didn't know anything about how these new fangled gas cans work... So due to a bank error when I reset my bank account so I could accurately keep track again, I had like a hundred dollars less in my account than I thought so my last bill payment put me in the hole. This would've been all right and easily fixed if I had been paid for the last week of my mailroom job but, oddly, I still have not been even though it's been weeks. I don't know if I can accurately convey how infuriated this makes me. If it doesn't happen soon, heads will roll! Also yesterday I re-watched the Enterprise episode "Regeneration"; this time with audio commentary from the writers. They made some valid points I hadn't considered on the issue of if this episode screws with...

Remind Me

Remind me to complain how boring and unexciting my life more often because as soon as I did, it got really exciting really fast. Last night, we had four visitors arrive from Korea. They like ziti and garlic bread. Go figure. They will be staying until Sunday night. I told my mother (AKA Hyacinth Bucket) she was making way too much salad but did she listen? No. Now we have this huge-ass bowl of salad in the fridge...What's really irritating is first the fork we use to serve catfood went missing now Susie's dish is missing as well... Tomorrow, I have a physical to prepare for my surgery then I go to my orthopedist's to fill out consent forms. Woo Hoo! I hope I can find time for a haircut as well because... Friday, I have a job interview at a library in Massachusetts! It's a reference job but I also will be conducting a book group. I've never done that but it sounds really fun. Sure, I'll be stuck reading many book that sucks but isn't that what book group i...

Your soul is bound to the Second Totem, Luna: The Wolf . Luna appears as a pair of coral colored wolves. She embodies empathy, nurturing, insight, and warmth . She is associated with the color coral, the season of spring, and the element of wind. Her downfall is pathos. You are most compatible with Doves and Ravens. Which Animal Spirit Totem Are You? brought to you by Quizilla I think I only clicked one of those qualities; maybe more. Odd but at least I'm not a Cockroach...
