Movies and a Job Update

I finally got the details of my new temp job. It wouldn't be downtown as I thought but at a branch that's in the same town as the library who's test I completely bombed. I also discovered that I don't start until Wednesday night instead of Monday night as I expected. The third surprise is that I'll be working ten days straight, as in through the weekend, so that'll be different. Previously, all the jobs have been for only three days. I'm not sure how much I'll be posting but, knowing me, I'm sure I will at least once.

Last night, we rented a couple movies. The first one we watched was The Squid and the Whale with Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney. It was quirky like such films as the Royal Tannenbaums but wasn't really that funny nor was it suppose to be I don't think. Not being a child of divorce, I have no gauge on the film's realism but all I can say is "Wow." My mother, who is a child of divorce, could barely watch it. The plot point of Daniels macking on one of his creative writing students made me squirm. The point, in terms of the film, was bad enough but to cast Anna Paquin in the role made it worse for me since he played her father in a certain movie with geese. I know it's a different movie with different characters but this was the first time I had trouble separating the two. I wonder if anyone else had those thoughts and if it was intentional.

This morning, I finished watching The Legend of Zorro. I have to say that I was a bit worried going into it since sequels, especially of really good movies, have a tendency to really suck but I have to say this was every bit as good as the first. No, I wouldn't go as far to say it was better since the first had a more believable plot but it was as good. I do want to add one more thing: if the next movie is titled Son of Zorro, I will scream.

We have the squid and the whale on our queue. So, did you actually like it? We have so little free time for obvious reasons, so I'd hate to waste it on a movie I'm just going to hate.

Random Comments Into My Life

We did yardwork yesterday. I picked up a lot of sticks. Home Depot sucks on a Friday morning. My father and I went to get a new gascan for the mower and there was only one employee around to help us...and she didn't know anything about how these new fangled gas cans work... So due to a bank error when I reset my bank account so I could accurately keep track again, I had like a hundred dollars less in my account than I thought so my last bill payment put me in the hole. This would've been all right and easily fixed if I had been paid for the last week of my mailroom job but, oddly, I still have not been even though it's been weeks. I don't know if I can accurately convey how infuriated this makes me. If it doesn't happen soon, heads will roll! Also yesterday I re-watched the Enterprise episode "Regeneration"; this time with audio commentary from the writers. They made some valid points I hadn't considered on the issue of if this episode screws with...

Remind Me

Remind me to complain how boring and unexciting my life more often because as soon as I did, it got really exciting really fast. Last night, we had four visitors arrive from Korea. They like ziti and garlic bread. Go figure. They will be staying until Sunday night. I told my mother (AKA Hyacinth Bucket) she was making way too much salad but did she listen? No. Now we have this huge-ass bowl of salad in the fridge...What's really irritating is first the fork we use to serve catfood went missing now Susie's dish is missing as well... Tomorrow, I have a physical to prepare for my surgery then I go to my orthopedist's to fill out consent forms. Woo Hoo! I hope I can find time for a haircut as well because... Friday, I have a job interview at a library in Massachusetts! It's a reference job but I also will be conducting a book group. I've never done that but it sounds really fun. Sure, I'll be stuck reading many book that sucks but isn't that what book group i...

Your soul is bound to the Second Totem, Luna: The Wolf . Luna appears as a pair of coral colored wolves. She embodies empathy, nurturing, insight, and warmth . She is associated with the color coral, the season of spring, and the element of wind. Her downfall is pathos. You are most compatible with Doves and Ravens. Which Animal Spirit Totem Are You? brought to you by Quizilla I think I only clicked one of those qualities; maybe more. Odd but at least I'm not a Cockroach...
