More Lost Thoughts

Now, it's possible we will discover that Libby did indeed survive the shooting as producers refuse to confirm either way but they have mentioned in at least two separate interviews that the Libby/Hurley relationship is too make up for the Charlie/Claire relationship being on the rocks right now. Why does this have to be? What is so wrong with the lovable fat guy having love? Besides, if she does indeed die, we'll never know, except in flashbacks I suppose, why they were both in the same mental institution and Hurley doesn't remember her. (I think she does.)

I helped out with another financial seminar today. I still didn't get my steak dinner but I did get a pretty good salmon dinner this time. Honestly, I'm not really partial to fish but it's a step in the right direction. I think I had a better grasp of my duties this time so I think it went much smoother from my perspective. I fully admit, I'm not a perfectionist "Type A" personality so my friends my have a different take on it.

Provided it doesn't get rained out the first real Sox-Yankees match up happens starting tonight. Of course I hope the Sox sweep the series but we all know that, at the end of season, the season series will be 10 games to 9 one way or the other. That's the way it's always been. It'll still be fun to watch, however...

Ant-Man On The Ocean

I'll discuss  Ant-Man and the Wasp  in a minute but there's still a handful of thoughts about my viewing of  Ocean's Eight I want to relay first...  When the all-female Ghostbusters  came out, there was the usual "raping of childhood" complaints.  Ocean's Eight sidestepped many of these issues by being a spin-off of a remake that was already done. Sandra Bullock played the sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean. (There was mention their father was als in the business. A reference to Frank Sinatra?)  Also, if you want to do a all-female action and/or comedy movie, the heist genre isn't a bad way to go.

Soundtracks are usually "just there" for me. They seem to be usually selected for their beat and tempo and not their lyrics. Lindsay Lohan's Herbie: Fully Loaded  was particularly noticeable in this regard for me  but I was admittedly in a bad mood that night since I had rather watched  The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe  for whatever num…

Sunday Morning Movie Review

Black Panther was great. Just as  Wonder Woman  gave little girls a superhero to "look up to," little African boys (Yes, not just African American  boys) have their own hero. But what was even better about this movie is that it was so much more. It wasn't a stereotypical Eddie Murphy or Whitney Houston movie.  Even 5, 8 years ago, we wanted this to happen but this might have been just the right time. T'Challa is king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda that millennia ago became rich in a fictional mineral called vibranium that allowed them to  become the most technologically advanced country on Earth. They decided to keep this secret, however, and disguised themselves with a cloaking shield and the guise of a "shithole country." (See? Relevance!)

Wakanda has reached a crossroads. Xenophobia is really no longer working. The villain of the movie, Wakandan by blood but certainly not upbringing, Killmonger, takes the throne in an effort to take the Black…

Going Solo With The Reviews Today

This post will focus only on  Solo: A Star Wars Story. Star Wars  has always had controversy going back to the old, old Star Wars vs. Star Trek  debate.  It's funny that  Solo  was directed by Ron Howard as franchise creator George Lucas once recognized Ron's brother Clint during a casting session as Balok of the First Federation in the early Star Trek  episode "The Corbomite Maneuver." I bring up this old argument only to point out when comparing the two as I've felt  Star Trek  (at least on TV. Harve Bennett dumbed down the franchise for the movies long before  Star Wars fan JJ Abrams did...)   that Trek was more intellectually stimulating while Wars was pure Good vs. Evil fun.  Solo  is a shining example of this and sunlight-deprived  nerds are up in arms.

A friend pointed out to me the movie explained too many mysteries.  According to the internet, the biggest, most controversial, reveal was where Han Solo's name came from. This was never a mystery worth…
